A silk top is a panel of skin-mimicking silk fabric integrated into the wig cap where the scalp would naturally show through. When you part the wig, the silk creates the illusion of real scalp — not the hand-tied knots that give cheaper wigs away.
This collection features silk top wigs with the lace front attached: the standard silk top construction plus a built-in lace front, joined as one piece for an undetectable hairline. It's our most-requested luxury construction.
Why this construction wins
Two of the three things that signal "wig" up close — a flat hairline and visible knots at the part — are solved by this build. Combined with premium European and Russian human hair, the result is a wig that reads as natural hair growth, even at conversation distance.
Hair quality
Every wig in this collection is built from cuticle-aligned European and Russian human hairand hand-finished at our Brooklyn studio. The silk panel and lace front are integrated during construction, not added on after, for the cleanest possible finish.
Other silk top options
Looking for a different construction? See our Silk Top with Detached Lace Front (separate lace front for more styling flexibility) and Silk Top No Lace (no lace at all) collections.
Silk top vs. lace top — what's the difference?
Lace top wigs use a lace panel at the parting. The knots are visible up close unless bleached, and the lace can shift in color against the scalp. Silk top wigs use a silk fabric panel that mimics scalp tone naturally — the knots sit hidden underneath the silk, with no bleaching required, no color mismatch, no shine.
For an everyday wig that doesn't need to pass close inspection, lace top is comfortable and lighter. For a wig that needs to be invisible at any range — in good light, in photographs, at conversation distance — silk top is the standard. Every wig in this collection adds a lace front on top of the silk top for a fully undetectable hairline as well.
Frequently asked questions
Do silk top wigs really look more natural than regular lace front?
Yes — at the part. A regular lace front wig has a natural-looking hairline but typically has visible knots at the part
unless they're bleached. A silk top hides those knots completely under a silk panel that reads as scalp. If anyone
has ever asked you about your part, this is the construction that solves it.
Can I part this wig anywhere?
Yes, anywhere within the silk panel area. Our silk tops are sized for a generous parting space — you can move the part
left, right, center, or wear it with no defined part at all. The attached lace front lets you wear the hair pulled
back off the face without exposing the cap.
Are silk top wigs comfortable for daily wear?
Yes. The silk panel is thin and breathable, sitting flat against the scalp. Combined with our hand-tied cap, the
construction is designed for all-day wear without itching, sliding, or pressure points. Most clients forget they're
wearing one within the first hour.
How long does a silk top lace front wig last?
With proper care — sulfate-free shampoo, gentle drying, avoiding daily high-heat styling — a premium silk top lace
front wig from this collection lasts multiple years of regular wear. Treat the wig gently around the part and the
perimeter; the rest of the cap is built to last.
Is this construction good for thinning hair or hair loss?
Yes. The silk top panel is the closest a wig comes to looking like real scalp, which makes it the most-chosen
construction for clients dealing with thinning, alopecia, or post-treatment regrowth. The attached lace front lets the
hairline read as your own. For private consultation, contact the studio directly.
